Gold Rush town, with a great set of daily activities! It's a long trip for a single day. With an early departure from Timothy, spend the whole day at Barkerville, and maybe overnight in Quesnel before returning the next day. Reputed to offer awesome winter-time cross-country skiing, when everything's deserted... and... ghostly :-O

Hell's Gate Airtram, in the Fraser Canyon
An interesting mid-journey break, on your way to (or from) Timothy Lake. Ride the gondola down to the viewing-platform, and take a look at the exhibits and gift shop.
Your destination! No more gravel-road driving, now that the road has been chip-sealed (summer 2006)
Make your turn off Hwy 97 at the Hungry Bear Restaurant, towards Timothy Mountain Ski Hill (there are signs)
Timothy Mountain offers winter skiing; some folks have gone mountain-biking in other seasons. There are also sweeping panoramic views of the Cariboo. It takes roughly 20min to get there from Timothy Lake, on a well-graded gravel road
The large metal bins which comprise the Transfer Station are located a few minutes south of Lac La Hache, with turn-lanes and signage
